Post  Amadoune Raleteta Mon Jul 12, 2010 2:09 am

Name: Amadoune Raleteta
Age: 40
Family: Miira Svatantra
Occupation: Whale Herd/Breeder
Likes: Work, assorted stimulants, when the gopayati behave, temple time, swimming with Aditya
Dislikes: Pani Bey Rehem, most people, the kids who try to put the gopayati off duty, when Aditya cries.

Backstory
Amadoune Raleteta was born to a mother and father who both were whale herds. His memories of youth are all almost exclusively focused around being in the water. His mother was inheritor of a fine zodani stud, and the couple were both known as reputable breeders. As soon as Amadoune was strong enough to swim against the currents, they put him to work gathering data on the stretches of ocean that their whales monitored. He proved to be a good hand with the whales and he rather liked learning about the different compounds that allowed his home to function. They sent him up to school at the Svatantra District school, where most of his classes focused on mathematics and chemistry. A solemn boy, he had many friends from the surface that he loved dearly. At the same time, he realized that for him, this was not home. He did not like dancing, and his own body, which was meant to take the strong currents that moved the ocean's chemicals around and provided an environment for healthy livestock meant he constantly swayed to and fro while on land. He couldn't stand hallucinogenics, and tended towards strong stimulants atomized in steam which kept his lungs comfortably wet and allowed him to function with little sleep. What he did love was going to Temple. He wasn't sure what it was, but a part of him resonated when he read from his prayer books or gave homage to Radhartta. He got something out of it he couldn't explain to his friends, and he often went there at least twice a weak, a wet cloud of acrid steam hovering around his face as he read and prayed.

When he finally finished school, Amadoune took over for his parents, and along with breeding the Zodani his family were known for, he took up another job as a Gopayati whale herd, keeping account of the fish that swam through the oceans. He was collecting quite a lot of credits and losing a lot of sleep. The credits were stockpiled and the sleep wasn't missed. He was perfectly content with his life, in the same solid intense way he felt about most things. As he got older, he actually started to unbend a bit more. He still went to the Temple with the same fervor he always did, but he realized that denying himself was as bad as living in excess. He started working a little less, taking time out to go up to the surface and enjoy a quiet smoke with his old friends from school. He still didn't sleep much.

This hopeful rebirth in his mid thirties was cut short by the mysterious disappearance of his best friend, a fellow Gopayati whale herd named Jaya. A new mother, Jaya's disappearance was startling to all who knew the happy, vibrant young woman. The fact that nothing could be traced pointed to Pani Bey Rehem, and it was odder still that instead of faking a natural death, as they were purported to do normally, Jaya merely vanished. Someone wanted to know she had gotten into trouble.

Apparently, Jaya had placed a clause in her will after she gave birth saying that if she should die, her child would be placed in Amadoune's custody. It was in this way that Amadoune found himself as a father. He loves little Aditya, as she is a beautiful baby girl and a great gift to the denizens of the ocean, but he has never been so scared in his entire life. For the first time in his life, things truly are uncertain. He has no idea how to communicate with the little thing and is almost completely clueless on how to be a father; the only thing he ever raised prior was whales. The combined dread of caring for his new child and his decision to cut back on stims for her sake has left the man tired eyed and grumpy. Yet for some reason, he's more content then he has been for a long time. And so, Amadoune is in what could be seen as another rebirth, one as a father.

Personality
Amadoune is what most people think when they imagine the prototypical Miira Svatantra. Solemn, dedicated to work, and constantly smelling of sea salt. He isn't the best conversationalist, but people who are patient find he is a kind man and excellent listener. His most significant trait after his work ethic is probably his religious fervor. He spends very little time with the vezyanvaa, instead prefers to sit in the temple, cross legged with his worn prayerbook between his legs. Religion is a very solitary affair for him, and he prefers not talking about it to anyone except his daughter.

Aditya is a very vocal baby who's either laughing or crying. She likes attention and will go from delighted giggles to screeching if she thinks her presence is taking secondary position to anything else in the area. When played with, she'll coo happily and loves to grip things in her little webbed hands.

Description
Amadoune has shining, light brown skin. As a young man, he had broken blue ringlets tattooed down his arm in phosphorescent ink, both as a fashion statement and an easy way for him to be noticed in the darkness of deep water. His hair is s lighter shade of bluish black that always seems wet and springy. He keeps it cut to the top of his shoulder, and is normally bound behind him. He is rounded out well by his Mirra Svatantra fat layer, making him look less muscular than he really is. Constant swimming and wrestling with parijana pups has made the flesh under his fat hard muscle. His eyes are dark violet, and they tend to be slightly blood shot with bags under them. Like most whale herds, he subsists mainly on raw fish and his teeth are the blunted spikes that most in his profession share. His work clothes are a simple set of reinforced shorts with pockets for his equipment. When on the surface, he wears slacks and a long shirt. He's taken to wearing a sari that he can tie into a holding pouch for Aditya.

Aditya is a plump little thing, now just five months old. She has strong little hands and a few teeth are starting to come in. Her hair is a vibrant shade of cream orange which offsets her dark brown skin. Her eyes are a vibrant green and are always opened wide at the world. She smiles a lot, but cries even more, much to Amadoune's dismay.

Mods
-Phosphorescent arm bands
-Webbed feet
-Third Eyelid
-Gills
-Extra surface area for gills hacked out of his chest. To go on land, he has to wear a sealed wet vest around his chest to breathe.

Skills
-Skill A
Breeding and judging of Zodani stock
-Skill B
Herding Gopayati whales and keeping them on task.
-Skill C
Getting Aditya to take her supplements.

Goals
Amadoune wants to keep working, especially now that he has someone to work for. Conflicting with this is a desire to talk to his parents more, especially for advice on how to raise Aditya. He also wants to teach Aditya to talk as quickly as possible so he can figure out what's bothering her without having to guess every single time.
