Rules & Guidelines

1. You must register your account with your character's first and last name. The only accounts that are not character names are moderator accounts! If you've been denied membership, please check to make sure you've followed this rule. If you need help with a name, please take a peek at the handy dandy Naming Conventions page.

2. Your character must be APPROVED before beginning play!

3. There is no "winning". The only measure of success is how much fun you (and other players) are having! Playing to 'win' defeats the point and isn't any fun for anyone else.

4. Play nice! While in character fighting is perfectly fine and dandy, we do discourage player to player antagonism. Please try to remember that player characters are not the players themselves. Try not to take anything too personally.

5. If you feel another player has been taking OOC (out of character) disputes IC (in character), talk to a mod. It's what we're here for. Similarly, if you feel in any way harassed by another player OOC (in chat, on the board, whatever) please talk to a moderator so we can do our best to rectify the situation EVEN if this person is a moderator! Especially if it's a moderator, even! Have a problem with a player, but don't need mod intervention? Take it to PMs, please! Nobody likes getting into a fight in public.

6. Moderator word is final. If you feel a moderator has said something unfair or out of line, please PM an admin.

7. Write in the past tense! Always always always! (Unless you're posting a literature thread. Then go crazy.)

8. In that same note, use proper English punctuation, spelling and grammar to the best of your ability. You won't be penalized for not being a brilliant writer, but we always want you to try!

9. You may not assume the reactions, actions, thoughts or feelings of any character but your own. This is considered godmodding, and we do not allow it. You may not force another character to react in the way you want. Similarly, you may not assume an outcome or take extensive control of an NPC (non-player character). The only 'NPC' characters you can create other than your own are the people directly related to your character-- blood relatives/people who share a living space. More details about player-created NPCs are covered in Character Creation.

10. NPCs cannot be the solution to a problem. They may do almost whatever you want, but if your character has a problem, you should try and find another PC or a moderated NPC to solve it.

11. We discourage OOC (out of character) comments in threads. They are mostly annoying and can detract from a thread's readability.

12. Please try and write at least one five-sentence paragraph for a post. While there's no need to kill yourself over post length, we do encourage you to try and post something of substance if at all possible.

13. When dating a thread, write it numerically, with the number of the day followed by the month, followed by a two-digit number representing the year. (For instance, 15.10.35 would be Bhamanu 15, 2035.) The hour is written in military time, ie, 0100, 0200, etc and so on.

14. Nothing, and we mean nothing, in your threads may be considered "adult". If you want to do that sort of thing, that's your own prerogative, but you absolutely cannot post it on the forums. Take it to PMs.

15. Let me say this again, nothing rated NC17 may be in a canon thread. Adult situations can and probably will happen, but there is no reason to post the details of such an event. Period. The End.

Thread Types and Entering Threads

1. There are three types of threads: Open, Invite-Only and Lit.
--"Open" threads are threads anyone can join. We encourage you to make these threads as much as possible. Your character's first thread must be an Open thread.
--"Invite-Only" threads are threads where the Original Poster has specific people in mind. These people will usually be listed in the thread title. If you see a thread marked as such, but want to be in it, PM the OP. The worst they can do is say no.
--"Lit" threads are stand-alone pieces of writing. These are usually used to give more insight into a character, or to chronicle something you want to be canon but do not want to make a full RP thread out of. These threads are not for RP.

2. When entering a thread that is in progress, it is very important that you respect the plot that might already be underway. While it is perfectly acceptable to want to become involved, especially if the thread is marked Open, it would be very rude of you to want your character to steal the show. If you are in any way unsure of your post or the actions you want to take, just talk to the other players involved.

3. The only threads you may enter without consent of the OP are threads marked Open. For all other threads, please PM the OP first!

Tips For Play

1. When attempting to do serious bodily harm to another character, it's best to talk to the player prior to doing so. The moderators will determine the outcome of your attempts regardless, but if it comes to our attention that this is not something the other player is comfortable with, things will not go well. This does not, of course, mean that no one can ever lose a fight. It does however mean that a PC cannot kill another PC without that player's consent, and that both parties should be willing participants in such activities.

2. While it's good to be excited about a thread, please wait your turn before posting! There's no real rule against going ahead and posting even if it isn't your turn, but it is generally considered the Thing To Do.

These rules are also posted in the wiki. If you feel any rule is confusing or unclear, please PM an admin or moderator.
